SEE ALSO...

F4/80 Antibody (C-7) is a mouse monoclonal IgG1 kappa light chain antibody that detects F4/80 protein of mouse, rat, and human origin by applications such as western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), immunohistochemistry, and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). F4/80 (C-7) antibody is available in both non-conjugated and various conjugated forms, including agarose, horseradish peroxidase (HRP), phycoerythrin (PE), fluorescein isothiocyanate (FITC), and multiple Alexa Fluor® conjugates. F4/80 protein, also known as EMR1, is a member of the epidermal growth factor (EGF)-TM7 family of G-protein coupled receptors, characterized by extended extracellular regions containing multiple EGF-like domains. F4/80 protein is exclusively expressed on macrophage surfaces, serving as a critical marker for mature macrophage populations in various tissues, including Kupffer cells in the liver, splenic red pulp macrophages, brain microglia, gut lamina propria, and Langerhans cells in the skin. F4/80 expression on macrophages is vital for understanding immune responses, playing a role in identifying and characterizing these immune cells in both health and disease. F4/80/EMR1 undergoes significant post-translational modifications, including extensive N-linked glycosylation and some O-linked glycosylation, which may influence macrophage adhesion, migration, and signaling pathways. F4/80 expression remains crucial for studying macrophage-related processes in various physiological and pathological contexts, though its precise role in macrophage biology continues to be actively researched.
