Cellulose triacetate is a polymer film derived from cellulose treated with an acetylating agent, which renders the cellulose polymers more soluble in organic solvents. Cellulose triacetate can be used to manufacture high-performance membranes characterized by well-defined pores for dialysis and reverse osmosis and is often combined with plasticizer and an ionophore for ion sensing and separation. It is also implemented in the production of photographic film and polarized film for liquid crystal displays.

Is cellulose triacetate you sell (sc-234295) prepared by acetylating the alpha cellulose that you sell (sc-214443)?

Asked by: Leland
Thank you for your question. No, this is not how these chemicals are manufactured.

Hi, I am curious about the degree of polymerization (e.g. how many glucoses per cellulose molecule on average) of this cellulose triacetate and whether you sell cellulose that has a matched degree of polymerization.

Asked by: Leland
Thank you for your question. The degree of polymerization for this chemical, Cellulose triacetate: sc-234295, has not been determined. The only unconjugated cellulose product we offer is α-Cellulose (sc-214443). The degree of polymerization has not been determine for that product either.

Danke

Asked by: Raphael Dabbous
Thank you very much for your interest in our products and your inquiry. We only provide the Cellulose triacetate as granules not as a film.
