    SEE ALSO...

ADH6 Antibody (WW32) is a mouse monoclonal IgG2a kappa light chain antibody that detects ADH6 protein of human origin by western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). Anti-ADH6 antibody (WW32) is available as the non-conjugated format. ADH6, also known as alcohol dehydrogenase 6 or ADH-5, is a 368 amino acid enzyme belonging to the class V zinc-containing alcohol dehydrogenase family, which plays a crucial role in metabolizing various substrates, including retinol, hydroxysteroids, ethanol, aliphatic alcohols, and lipid peroxidation products. ADH6 is primarily localized in the cytoplasm and predominantly expressed in the stomach and liver, where ADH6 catalyzes the reversible oxidation of alcohols to corresponding aldehydes or ketones, utilizing two zinc ions as essential cofactors. A glucocorticoid response element upstream of ADH6′s 5′ untranslated region indicates that expression may be regulated by hormonal signals, highlighting potential roles in metabolic processes influenced by steroid hormones. Multiple isoforms of ADH6 exist due to alternative splicing events, suggesting complex regulation of function, which may have implications for understanding individual variations in alcohol metabolism and related disorders.
