5-Bromo-4-chloro-3-indolyl b-D-galactopyranoside (X-Gal) is a histochemical substrate for β-galactosidase. X-Gal is cleaved by β-galactosidase to yield an insoluble blue preceipitate. X-Gal is used to detect DNA insertions into the lacZ region of plasmid DNA, which causes the loss of β-galactosidase activity. Also used in conjunction with IPTG for detection of b-Galactosidase activity in bacterial colonies in a colorimetric assay.

What is the shelf life of compound in DMSO when stored at -20° C?

Asked by: Krishnanand
Thank you very much for your inquiry. Protected from light at -20 C, that solution can be stored for 6-12 months. If the solution turns pink, it should be discarded.
