4-(dimethylamino)-N-[6-(hydroxyamino)-6-oxohexyl]-benzamide is a selective histone deacetylase (HDAC1) inhibitor. It is very similar in structure to M 344 (sc-203124), and has similar potency to trapoxin A (sc-253730) and trapoxin B. Trichostatin A (sc-3511) is a more potent inhibitor of the HDAC enzyme, however this 4-(dimethylamino)-N-[6-(hydroxyamino)-6-oxohexyl]-benzamide compound has equivalent selectivity and is much more cost-effective for the inhibition of HDAC. The deacetylation of histones by HDAC is associated with transcriptional silencing.

Is this inhibitor soluble in DMSO?

Thank you for your question. This biochemical is supplied as a crystalline solid. A stock solution may be made by dissolving the sc-223859 in an organic solvent purged with an inert gas. Suggested organic solvents include ethanol, DMSO, and dimethyl formamide (DMF). The solubility in these solvents is at least 1, 14, and 20 mg/ml, respectively. We do not recommend storing the aqueous solution for more
than one day.

Thank you for your question. sc-223859 is an inhibitor of histone deacetylase (HDAC1) with an IC50 value of 10 μM. It is for HDAC1, not for all the HDACs in class I (so, not for HDAC2, HDAC3 etc).
