3-Bromo-7-nitroindazole is a 7-nitro indazole derivative that inhibits bovine NOS3 and rat NOS1 enzyme activity. This compound was also reported to provide significant neuroprotection against ischaemia-induced brain damage in rat models. Experiments suggest that 3-Bromo-7-nitroindazole displays the capacity to prevent effects of MCPG, a metabotropic receptor antagonist. Metabotropic receptors decrease synaptic transmission in murine models.

Soluble in DMSO (50 mg/ml), DMF (~20 mg/ml), ethanol (~20 mg/ml), PBS (pH 7.2) (~50 µg/ml), 50:50 solution of DMSO:water (1 mg/ml), methanol, water containing 10% DMSO, dichloromethane, ethyl acetate, and water (< 50 µg/ml) at 25° C.
