This product is a prostaglandin and endogenous PPARγ ligand. It is a cyclopentanone resulting from the dehydration of PGD2. Unlike other prostaglandins, 15d-PGJ2 acts via PGD2 receptors (DP1 and DP2) and its interaction with intracellular targets. As an endogenous PPARγ ligand it maintains anti-inflammatory functions. It has also been shown to promote differentiation of fibroblasts to adipocytes and to be a TRPA1 agonist.
