PPACK dihydrochloride is known to be an irreversible and potent inhibitor of thrombin. PPACK dihydrochloride is shown to inhibit thrombin activation of progelatinase A. In vivo pretreatment with PPACK dihydrochloride has been shown to inhibit thrombin-induced cerebral thromboembolism. PPACK dihydrochloride is also known to act as an anticoagulant in platelet-rich plasma. PPACK dihydrochloride is also known as D-Phenylalanyl-prolyl-arginyl Chloromethyl Ketone, D-Phe-Pro-Arg-CMK, and D-Phe-Pro-Arg-chloromethylketone.
