TFIID Antibody (C-7) is a mouse monoclonal IgG1 antibody that detects TFIID in mouse, rat, and human samples through applications such as western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). TFIID plays a crucial role in the initiation of transcription by RNA polymerase II, serving as a key component of the pre-initiation complex that assembles at the core promoter region of protein-coding genes. The TATA-binding protein (TBP), a subunit of TFIID, is essential for recognizing and binding to the TATA box, a conserved DNA sequence located approximately 25-30 base pairs upstream of the transcription start site. This interaction facilitates the recruitment of other transcription factors and RNA polymerase II, ultimately leading to the formation of a functional transcription complex. Proper functioning of TFIID is critical for the regulation of gene expression, and any dysregulation can lead to various diseases, including cancer. Anti-TFIID antibody (C-7) is an invaluable tool for researchers studying transcriptional regulation and its implications in cellular processes and disease mechanisms.

What does the specification "p36" in the context of TBP in TFIID refer to exactly ? So far, I could only find information of p36 being a subunit of TFIIH.

Asked by: Charly 91
Thank you for your question. The molecular weight of TFIID as detected by TFIID Antibody (C-7): sc-271146 is 36 kDa, which is why the product page also refers to TFIID as p36.

What application is the blocking peptide sc-271146 P appropriate for?

Asked by: Professor Griffin
Thank you for your question. The blocking peptide is intended for use as a negative control, by pre-adsorbing the mouse monoclonal antibody against the antigen.
