    SIV-1 Nef Antibody (17) is a mouse monoclonal IgG1 antibody that detects SIV-1 Nef in SIV-1 by applications such as western blotting (WB), immunofluorescence (IF), and immunohistochemistry. SIV-1 Nef is a crucial early protein that plays a significant role in the viral life cycle by optimizing the host cell environment for virion replication while simultaneously preventing apoptosis through the inhibition of Fas and TNFR-mediated death signals, as well as reducing the half-life of p53. The protein′s N-terminus features myristoylation sites that anchor Nef to the cytoplasmic side of the plasma membrane, which is essential for its function in modulating cellular processes. Notably, SIV-1 Nef operates as a homodimer and interacts with various proteins, including PI 3-kinase, which activates PAK2 and enhances SIV production. Furthermore, SIV-1 Nef is instrumental in immune evasion, as SIV-1 Nef down-regulates MHC-I molecules and decreases CD4 antigens on the surface of infected cells, thereby allowing the virus to persist in the host.
