SHIP-2 Antibody (B-9) is a mouse monoclonal IgG3 antibody that detects SHIP-2 in mouse, rat, and human samples through applications such as western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). SHIP-2, a homolog of SHIP, plays a crucial role in cellular signaling pathways, particularly in the regulation of the phosphoinositide 3-kinase (PI3K) pathway, which is vital for cell growth and survival. SHIP-2 is predominantly expressed in both hematopoietic and non-hematopoietic cells, including T and B cells, as well as in tissues such as the spleen, thymus, and lung. SHIP-2 expression is notably enhanced in response to stimuli like thyroid-stimulating hormone (TSH) and epidermal growth factor (EGF), indicating involvement in cellular responses to growth factors. SHIP-2 mediates cell cycle arrest in the G1 phase of glioblastoma cells, highlighting potential role as a tumor suppressor. By associating with the Shc protein following B-cell receptor engagement, SHIP-2 contributes to the negative regulation of the PI3K pathway, thereby inhibiting cell proliferation. SHIP-2′s ability to interact with various signaling molecules underscores importance in maintaining cellular homeostasis and potential implications in cancer biology and immune regulation.
