Odf2 Antibody (G-8) is a mouse monoclonal IgG1 kappa light chain antibody that detects Odf2 of mouse, rat, and human origin by western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), immunohistochemistry, and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). anti-Odf2 antibody (G-8) is available in both non-conjugated and various conjugated forms, including agarose, horseradish peroxidase (HRP), phycoerythrin (PE), fluorescein isothiocyanate (FITC), and multiple Alexa Fluor® conjugates. Odf2 plays a crucial role in the structural integrity of the outer dense fibers (ODF) in the mammalian sperm tail, which are essential for maintaining the elasticity and proper function of the flagellum during sperm motility. These fibers are located outside the axoneme and are vital for the passive elastic properties and recoil of the sperm tail, which are necessary for effective swimming. ODFs are composed of a complex array of proteins, including Odf1, Odf2, and Odf3, which are predominantly expressed during spermiogenesis. Notably, Odf2 interacts with Odf1 through leucine zipper motifs, facilitating the assembly of the outer dense fibers, while Odf1 can also self-interact. Proper functioning of these proteins is critical, as abnormalities in their expression or interaction may contribute to male infertility due to flagellar dysfunction. The human Odf2 gene is located on chromosome 9q34, and both Odf1 and Odf2 are exclusively expressed in the testis, highlighting their specialized role in reproductive biology.

What application is the blocking peptide sc-365874 P appropriate for?

    Asked by: DefinitelyNotMatt
Thank you for your question. The blocking peptide is intended for use as a negative control, by pre-adsorbing the mouse monoclonal antibody against the antigen. For full protocol details, please contact our Technical Services Department or view our online protocol here: https://www.scbt.com/scbt/resources/protocols/peptide-neutralization
