MAO-A Antibody (G-10) is a mouse monoclonal IgG1 kappa light chain antibody that detects MAO-A protein of mouse, rat, and human origin by western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), immunohistochemistry with paraffin-embedded sections (IHCP), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). Anti-MAO-A antibody (G-10) is available in both non-conjugated and various conjugated forms, including agarose, horseradish peroxidase (HRP), phycoerythrin (PE), fluorescein isothiocyanate (FITC), and multiple Alexa Fluor® conjugates. Monoamine oxidase A (MAO-A) enzyme is located in the outer mitochondrial membrane and plays a crucial role in oxidative deamination of biogenic amines, which is essential for regulating neurotransmitter levels in the brain. Such regulation is particularly important as imbalances in neurotransmitter levels, such as serotonin and norepinephrine, have been linked to various psychiatric disorders, including depression and anxiety. Preferential degradation of serotonin by MAO-A highlights MAO-A′s significance in mood regulation and potential implications for therapeutic interventions targeting this enzyme. MAO-A and MAO-B genes are located on the X chromosome, which has led to research into their roles as genetic markers for psychiatric conditions, further emphasizing MAO-A′s function in both health and disease.
