CD21 Antibody (BU32) is a mouse monoclonal IgG1 antibody that detects CD21 in human samples through immunofluorescence (IF) and flow cytometry (FCM) applications. CD21, also known as complement receptor type 2, is a type I integral membrane glycoprotein that plays a crucial role in the immune system by serving as a receptor for the C3d complement fragment and the Epstein-Barr virus. CD21 is primarily located on the surface of mature B cells, follicular dendritic cells, and certain epithelial cells, where CD21 is essential for B cell activation and proliferation. CD21 on B cells enhances their response to foreign antigens by modulating the strength of B cell antigen receptor signals in conjunction with the co-receptor CD19. This interaction is vital for the adaptive immune response, as CD21 ensures that B cells can effectively recognize and respond to pathogens while maintaining a regulated response to prevent overactivation. Additionally, CD21 undergoes phosphorylation following B cell activation, further influencing CD21′s function and the overall immune response. Anti-CD21 antibody (BU32) is an invaluable tool for researchers studying B cell biology and the mechanisms of immune regulation.
