BAY 11-7085 is an inhibitor of NF-κB activation and TNFα-induced phosphorylation. BAY 11-7085 has demonstrated potent anti-inflammatory action. BAY 11-7085 is shown to decrease the lipopolysaccharide-induced production of cytokines IL-1beta and IL-8, and the chemokine CCL17. BAY 11-7085 studies also suggests it has a role in lessening the effect of neuronal injury-induced glial apoE secretion. In rats, BAY 11-7085 is shown to reduce silica-induced inflammation and collagen deposition. Additionally, BAY 11-7085 is able to reversibly activate MAP kinases and stimulate apoptosis.
