Anillin Antibody (A-2) is a mouse monoclonal IgG1 antibody that detects Anillin in mouse, rat, and human samples through applications such as western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). Anillin is a crucial actin-binding protein that plays a vital role in cytokinesis, the process by which a cell divides its cytoplasm to form two daughter cells. Anti-Anillin antibody (A-2) recognizes a protein predominantly localized in the nucleus and essential for the formation of the cleavage furrow during cell division, where Anillin collaborates with Rac GTPase to create a contractile ring. Anillin′s function is underscored by interaction with other proteins, such as CD2AP, which helps concentrate Rho A and maintain the localization of active Myosin during cytokinesis. Disruption of Anillin function, as seen in Anillin knockout cells, leads to incomplete cleavage furrow ingression, highlighting Anillin′s critical role in successful cell division. Anillin expression levels are tightly regulated throughout the cell cycle, peaking during mitosis, and undergo post-translational modifications, including ubiquitination by the anaphase-promoting complex/cyclosome (APC/C), which targets Anillin for degradation as cells transition into the G1 phase. Anillin is often overexpressed in various tumors, suggesting potential as a biomarker for cancer diagnosis and prognosis.
