Gephyrin Antibody (G-6) is a mouse monoclonal IgG2b kappa light chain antibody that detects Gephyrin protein of mouse, rat, and human origin by western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), immunohistochemistry, and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). Anti-Gephyrin antibody (G-6) is available in both non-conjugated and various conjugated forms, including agarose, horseradish peroxidase (HRP), phycoerythrin (PE), fluorescein isothiocyanate (FITC), and multiple Alexa Fluor® conjugates. Gephyrin plays a crucial role in postsynaptic localization of inhibitory glycine receptors, which are essential for maintaining inhibitory neurotransmission in the central nervous system. Gephyrin is predominantly expressed in the brain, where Gephyrin localizes to neuronal postsynaptic membranes, facilitating the anchoring of glycine receptors to subsynaptic microtubules. Proper functioning of Gephyrin is vital for synaptic stability and plasticity, making Gephyrin a key player in modulating synaptic strength and overall balance of excitatory and inhibitory signals in the brain.
