CD88 Antibody (R63) is a mouse monoclonal IgG1 kappa light chain antibody that detects CD88 protein of mouse, rat, and human origin by western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), and flow cytometry (FCM). Anti-CD88 antibody (R63) is available in both non-conjugated and various conjugated forms, including agarose, horseradish peroxidase (HRP), phycoerythrin (PE), fluorescein isothiocyanate (FITC), and multiple Alexa Fluor® conjugates. CD88, also known as C5a receptor (C5aR), is a G protein-coupled integral membrane protein that plays a crucial role in the immune response. CD88 is predominantly expressed on immune cells such as neutrophils, monocytes, macrophages, and mast cells, as well as on various epithelial and endothelial cells. CD88 functions as a receptor for the inflammatory peptide C5a, which is a potent mediator of inflammation. Upon binding of C5a to CD88, there is a significant increase in the production of acute phase proteins in the liver, highlighting CD88′s role in the acute phase response during inflammation. Elevated levels of CD88 in the brain have been associated with inflammatory conditions, suggesting CD88′s involvement in neuroinflammatory processes. Research indicates that the C5a/C5aR axis may contribute to the pathogenesis of various inflammatory diseases, including rheumatoid arthritis, and human bronchial epithelial cells exhibit heightened responsiveness to C5a when exposed to environmental irritants such as cigarette smoke.
