Asiaticoside (Madecassol) is the active chemical component of the plant Centella asiatica. Asiaticoside is used to study potential treatments for wounds and burns, due to its significant healing capacity. Asiaticoside is the main constituent of C. asiatica, which has been used historically in the Ayurvedic system to treat a variety of health issues. Asiaticoside has been observed to increase hydroxyproline content, improve tensile strength, promote epithelialization, stimulate glycosaminoglycan synthesis, and boost antioxidant levels. In regards to collagen, Asiaticoside can promote its synthesis and the remodelling of the collagen matrix.
