Mouse Homeodomain Proteins Transfected Cell Lysates

Santa Cruz Biotechnology offers an expansive library of transfected lysates that overexpress homeodomain proteins. Homeodomain proteins bind DNA in a specific manner, though the specificity of one homeodomain protein is not usually enough to recognize its desired target genes only. To solve this problem, homeodomain proteins normally function in the promoter region of their target genes and complex with other transcription factors, which are often other homeodomain proteins. These complexes have a much higher target specificity than a single homeodomain protein. Transfected lysates that express homeodomain proteins offer a reliable means to evaluate antibody quality and serve as excellent positive controls for experiments involving antibodies.
