SEE ALSO...

Homer-1b/c Antibody (B-5) is a mouse monoclonal IgG1 kappa light chain antibody specifically designed for the detection of Homer-1b and Homer-1c proteins of mouse, rat, and human origin in applications such as western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), immunohistochemistry with paraffin-embedded sections (IHCP), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). Homer proteins, also known as Vesl (VASP/Ena-related gene upregulated during seizure) or LTP, are a family of scaffold proteins that play a crucial role in synaptic signaling by binding to group 1 metabotropic glutamate receptors (mGluRs), which are involved in intracellular calcium signaling. Homer-1b/c (B-5) antibody recognizes constitutively expressed proteins containing a coiled-coil domain that mediates self-multimerization, distinguishing them from the immediate early gene product Homer-1a. Homer-1b/c proteins are predominantly located at the postsynaptic density of excitatory synapses in neurons, where Homer-1b/c (B-5) monoclonal antibody helps identify receptor signaling complexes involved in synaptic transmission and plasticity, essential processes for learning and memory. The localization of Homer proteins at the synapse allows modulation of synaptic connection strength and efficiency, influencing neuronal communication. By linking mGluRs with intracellular calcium release channels like the inositol triphosphate receptors (IP3R), Homer proteins regulate calcium dynamics within neurons. Understanding the function and distribution of Homer proteins is vital for research into neurological disorders and synaptic function, making anti-Homer-1b/c antibody (B-5) a valuable tool for neuroscientists.
