MDM2 Antibody (SMP14) is a mouse monoclonal IgG1 kappa light chain antibody raised against amino acids 154-167 of the human MDM2 protein. Anti-MDM2 monoclonal antibody (SMP14) exhibits cross-reactivity with mouse, rat, and human MDM2, making MDM2 (SMP14) antibody suitable for applications such as western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), and immunohistochemistry on paraffin-embedded sections (IHCP). MDM2, also known as murine double minute 2, is an E3 ubiquitin-protein ligase that plays a crucial role in regulating the p53 tumor suppressor protein. By binding to p53, MDM2 inhibits its transcriptional activity and promotes its degradation via the ubiquitin-proteasome pathway, thereby maintaining low p53 levels under normal conditions. Overexpression or amplification of the MDM2 gene has been observed in various human cancers, including soft tissue sarcomas, osteosarcomas, and breast tumors, leading to the inactivation of p53′s tumor-suppressive functions and contributing to tumorigenesis. MDM2 monoclonal antibody (SMP14) is an essential tool for cancer research, facilitating the study of MDM2′s role in cancer development and progression.
