Granzyme B Antibody (2C5) is a mouse monoclonal IgG2a kappa light chain antibody that detects granzyme B protein of mouse, rat, and human origin through applications such as western blotting, immunoprecipitation, immunofluorescence, immunohistochemistry, and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay. Granzyme B (2C5) antibody is offered in both non-conjugated and various conjugated forms, including agarose, horseradish peroxidase, phycoerythrin, fluorescein isothiocyanate, and multiple Alexa Fluor® conjugates. Granzyme B plays a crucial role in the immune response by mediating apoptosis in target cells, particularly during cytotoxic T lymphocyte and natural killer cell activity. This serine protease is synthesized as an inactive proenzyme and is stored in cytolytic granules, where release occurs upon degranulation of effector cells. Once activated, granzyme B cleaves and activates caspases, such as caspase-3, -6, -7, and -9, which are essential for executing the apoptotic program through a well-defined proteolytic cascade. Granzyme B induces apoptosis, a vital process for maintaining immune homeostasis and eliminating infected or malignant cells. Understanding granzyme B function and role in apoptosis provides insights into immune responses and potential therapeutic targets for diseases involving dysregulated apoptosis.
