p-53BP1 Antibody (38.Ser 25) is a mouse monoclonal IgG1 kappa light chain antibody that detects p-53BP1 of mouse and human origin by western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). p-53BP1 (38.Ser 25) antibody is available in both non-conjugated and various conjugated forms, including agarose and horseradish peroxidase (HRP). p-53BP1, also known as TP53BP1 or tumor protein p53 binding protein 1, is a crucial 1,972 amino acid protein that plays a significant role in cellular response to DNA damage. p-53BP1 is primarily located in the nucleus, where p-53BP1 associates with kinetochores and is involved in cell cycle regulation, particularly during mitosis. Two BRCT domains in p-53BP1 structure allow interaction with other proteins, including p53, thereby enhancing p53-mediated transcriptional activation and contributing to checkpoint signaling. This interaction maintains genomic stability by helping cells respond appropriately to DNA damage, preventing mutation propagation that could lead to cancer. p-53BP1 undergoes post-translational modifications, including phosphorylation at specific serine residues, which can influence activity and interactions. The gene encoding p-53BP1 is located on human chromosome 15, a region containing over 700 genes and representing nearly 3% of the human genome, underscoring p-53BP1 importance in cellular processes and potential implications in cancer biology.
