Genome
Mammalian genomes contain the blueprint of mammalian life. In early 2001, Celera Genomics published "The Sequence of the Human Genome" using their novel technique, the shotgun sequencing approach.1 Around the same time, the publicly funded International Human Genome Sequencing Consortium (IHGSC) announced the completion of their draft sequence of the human genome,2 then in 2004 followed up with a completion of their draft of the euchromatic region of the human genome.3 Both projects provided excellent resources for the global research community and showed there are far fewer protein coding genes in the human genome than originally anticipated. While the exact number remains unclear, current estimates range from 20,000 to 25,000.
Santa Cruz Biotechnology Inc. is determined to provide antibodies and siRNAs for all your research needs and have undertaken a goal of producing antibodies and siRNAs for each protein encoded by the human and mouse genomes. In pursuit and organization of this goal we have generated databases compiling gene name, RefSeq and Swiss Prot accession numbers, chromosome location and associated antibodies and siRNAs. These human and mouse chromosome databases are accessible on our website through the use of the Human and Mouse Chromosome Search feature.
* siRNAs Not Available
siRNAs are available for each gene, however, we are still in the process of adding them to this web site. If you are interested in an siRNA that we do not currently have posted, please contact our Technical Service Department at scbt@scbt.com. We welcome your input and feedback.
Features of the Human and Mouse Chromosome Searches:
  • Search for antibody by gene locus
  • View a range of loci and available products
  • Browse through chromosome lists
  • Identify products by target protein accession number
  • Find siRNA to every unique protein coding human gene
  • Locate available antibodies by gene name
