IKKα Antibody (B-8) is a mouse monoclonal IgG2b kappa light chain antibody that detects IKKα protein of human origin by western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), immunohistochemistry (IHCP), flow cytometry (FCM), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). IKKα Antibody (B-8) is available in both non-conjugated and various conjugated forms, including agarose, horseradish peroxidase (HRP), phycoerythrin (PE), fluorescein isothiocyanate (FITC), and multiple Alexa Fluor® conjugates. IKKα plays a pivotal role in the regulation of the NFkB signaling pathway, which is crucial for controlling immune responses, inflammation, and cell survival. Located primarily in the cytoplasm, IKKα is part of a multi-subunit complex that includes IKKβ and IKKγ (NEMO), and is essential for the phosphorylation of the inhibitory protein IkB. This phosphorylation event is critical because IKKα leads to the degradation of IkB, allowing the transcription factor NFkB to translocate to the nucleus and activate target genes involved in inflammatory responses. IKKα interaction with IkB-α, particularly phosphorylation at serine residues 32 and 36, is a key regulatory step in the NFkB activation process, which is stimulated by upstream signals such as tumor necrosis factor (TNF) and interleukin-1 (IL-1) through the NFkB inducing kinase (NIK). Understanding IKKα function and regulation is vital for elucidating the mechanisms underlying various inflammatory diseases and developing targeted therapies.
