E-cadherin Antibody (DECMA-1) is a rat monoclonal IgG1 antibody that detects E-cadherin in mouse, rat, human, and canine samples through applications such as western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), and immunohistochemistry. Anti-E-cadherin antibody (DECMA-1) is available in both non-conjugated and various conjugated forms, including agarose, horseradish peroxidase (HRP), phycoerythrin (PE), fluorescein isothiocyanate (FITC), and multiple Alexa Fluor® conjugates. E-cadherin plays a crucial role in cell adhesion, acting as a key mediator of cell-cell interactions that are essential for maintaining tissue integrity and facilitating morphogenetic processes. E-cadherin is primarily located at the adherens junctions of epithelial cells, where E-cadherin forms homophilic interactions with neighboring E-cadherin molecules, thereby promoting strong adhesion between cells. Proper localization and function of E-cadherin are vital for the maintenance of epithelial tissue architecture, and dysregulation is often associated with various pathological conditions, including cancer metastasis. Classical cadherins, including E-cadherin, are characterized by large extracellular domains, which contain multiple homologous repeats that contribute to adhesive properties. E-cadherin′s intracellular domain interacts with cytoplasmic proteins such as β-catenin, linking E-cadherin to the actin cytoskeleton and playing a significant role in signaling pathways that regulate cell behavior.
