SEE ALSO...

cathepsin D Antibody (E-7) is a mouse monoclonal IgG1 kappa light chain antibody raised against amino acids 1-75 of human cathepsin D, with validated applications including western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), immunohistochemistry with paraffin-embedded sections (IHCP), flow cytometry (FCM), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). Cathepsin D, also known as CTSD, is a lysosomal aspartyl protease involved in protein degradation and peptide processing. anti-cathepsin D antibody (E-7) plays a crucial role in studying cellular metabolism, autophagy, and apoptosis by detecting proteins broken down into smaller peptides within the acidic lysosomal environment. This enzyme is synthesized as an inactive precursor and activated through proteolytic cleavage, which is essential for enzymatic activity. Cathepsin D also cleaves specific protein precursors to release regulatory peptides that modulate various cellular processes. Enzymatic activity is tightly regulated, as dysregulation has been implicated in pathological conditions, including cancer, where cathepsin D may promote tumor progression and metastasis. The cathepsin D gene is regulated by multiple transcription factors, including Sp1 and AP-2, which control expression in response to cellular and environmental signals. cathepsin D monoclonal antibody (E-7) is an invaluable tool for investigating functional and regulatory mechanisms in health and disease.
