The Ras family of proteins participate in a diverse array of functions, including signal transduction, cytoskeleton dynamics and intracellular trafficking. Ras proteins cycle between a biologically inactive GDP-bound state and an active GTP-bound state. RASL12 (Ras-like protein family member 12), is a 266 amino acid protein that belongs to the small GTPase superfamily and the Ras family. RASL10B localizes to the cytoplasmic side of the cell membrane and is widely expressed in human tissues and is a candidate tumor suppressor protein. RASL11B is believed to localize to the cytoplasm and, as is suggested by its TGFβ1-induced expression, may participate in TGFβ1-regulated developmental processes.
