GENAPOL X-100, 10% Solution, Sterile-Filtered

GENAPOL® X-100, 10% Solution, Sterile-Filtered are polyglycol ethers with the general formula R-CH2-O-(CH2CH2O)nH, where n = the number of ethylene oxides. These detergents have been purified for the isolation of membrane proteins. They can be used in protocols that require UV monitoring of the solubilized proteins because of their low UV absorbance. Since several investigators have reported problems associated with peroxide and aldehyde impurities in polyoxyethylene detergents, these GENAPOL Detergents have been additionally purified to reduce levels of contaminating aldehydes, peroxides, metals, and salts (aldehyde concentration: < 200 μM; peroxide concentration: < 200 μM; conductivity: < 50 μmhos).
