TAF II p55 Antibody (SQ-8) is a mouse monoclonal IgG2a kappa light chain antibody that detects TAF II p55 protein of mouse, rat, and human origin by western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), immunohistochemistry with paraffin-embedded sections (IHCP), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). Anti-TAF II p55 antibody (SQ-8) is available as the non-conjugated format. TAF II p55, also known as Transcription initiation factor TFIID 55 kDa subunit, TAF7, or TAF2F, is a crucial 349 amino acid component of the TFIID complex, which plays a vital role in the regulation of gene expression. TAF II p55 is primarily localized in the nucleus, where TAF II p55 is involved in the assembly of the preinitiation complex by interacting with the TATA-binding protein and other TBP-associated factors. TAF II p55 interacts with TAF II p250, the largest subunit of the TFIID complex, and several other proteins essential for transcriptional activation. Through these interactions, TAF II p55 functions as a regulatory checkpoint, inhibiting the acetyltransferase activity of binding partners, which delays transcription until the preinitiation complex is fully assembled. This regulatory mechanism ensures gene expression occurs in a controlled manner, preventing premature transcription that could lead to cellular dysfunction.
