Actin Antibody (C-2) is a mouse monoclonal IgG1 kappa light chain antibody that specifically detects Actin, a highly conserved and essential cytoskeletal protein, across mouse, rat, human, and Xenopus laevis species. Anti-Actin antibody (C-2), with an epitope mapping between amino acids 357-375 at the C-terminus of Actin in human origin, is reactive in multiple assays such as western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), immunohistochemistry with paraffin-embedded sections (IHCP), flow cytometry (FCM), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). Actin monoclonal antibody (C-2) is available in non-conjugated form and in multiple conjugated forms including agarose, horseradish peroxidase (HRP), phycoerythrin (PE), fluorescein isothiocyanate (FITC), and various Alexa Fluor® dyes. Actin is a ubiquitous protein expressed in all eukaryotic cells, constituting up to 50% of total cellular protein. Actin′s role in forming both stable and dynamic structures such as microvilli and the contractile apparatus of muscle cells underscores Actin′s importance in cellular architecture and motility. In mammals, at least six isoforms of Actin exist, divided into three main classes: α-Actin is found primarily in muscle cells, while β-Actin and γ-Actin are present in most other tissues. Actin plays a crucial role in cellular processes such as cell division, intracellular trafficking, and signal transduction. Actin organization within the cytoskeleton is tightly regulated by members of the small GTPase family, including Rho, which controls stress fiber assembly, Rac, which regulates plasma membrane-associated filaments, and Cdc42, which promotes filopodia formation. Actin′s critical role in maintaining cell structure and enabling dynamic cellular responses makes Actin a vital target in research for understanding fundamental biological processes and diseases.
