SEE ALSO...

IRF-7 Antibody (G-8) is a mouse monoclonal IgG2a kappa light chain antibody that detects IRF-7 protein of human origin by western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), immunohistochemistry with paraffin-embedded sections (IHCP), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). IRF-7 (G-8) antibody is available in both non-conjugated and various conjugated forms, including agarose, horseradish peroxidase (HRP), phycoerythrin (PE), fluorescein isothiocyanate (FITC), and multiple Alexa Fluor® conjugates. IRF-7 plays a crucial role in immune response by regulating type I interferons expression, which are vital for antiviral defense. IRF-7 is primarily located in the nucleus, where this transcription factor activates interferon-α and interferon-β genes expression in response to viral infections. Nuclear localization enables direct influence on cellular transcriptional machinery, enhancing interferon production to orchestrate immune response. Nuclear translocation upon activation underscores IRF-7′s importance in signaling pathways that mediate host defense against pathogens. Anti-IRF-7 antibody (G-8) enables researchers to gain insights into immune regulation mechanisms and interferon roles in antiviral immunity.

Hi, Please do you know whether this antibody works fine for the detection of Equine IRF-7 protein using WB? Thank you

Asked by: Fatai
Thank you for your question. We have not tested this antibody, IRF-7 (G-8): sc-74472, in equine samples, and do not know if it will work for that species. The antibody is raised against an antigen corresponding to amino acids 1-246 of IRF-7 of human origin, which shares ~65% sequence identity with a predicted protein sequence for interferon regulatory factor 7-like in Equus caballus (protein accession number: XP_001494207). This is below our typical threshold for recommended cross-reactivity in another species, but it is significant and the antibody may have an epitope that would work for equine. For a limited time, we are offering a free 10 µg sample of this antibody. Please contact our Technical Service Department if you would like to request a free sample to test in your species. Please call us toll-free at (800) 457-3801 option 2, e-mail <scbt@scbt.com>, or use the live chat on our website.
