Glucose Oxidase Antibody (101) is a mouse monoclonal IgM antibody that detects the Glucose Oxidase protein of Aspergillus niger by enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). Anti-Glucose Oxidase antibody (101) is available as the non-conjugated form. Glucose Oxidase is a dimeric enzyme that plays a crucial role in the oxidation of β-D-glucose into D-glucono-1,5-lactone, which subsequently hydrolyzes to gluconic acid. This enzymatic reaction is vital not only for energy metabolism in various organisms but also for food preservation, as Glucose Oxidase generates hydrogen peroxide, an antibacterial agent that helps inhibit microbial growth. The enzyme′s structure, characterized by its dimeric form, is essential for function, as the interaction between the two subunits enhances stability and catalytic efficiency. Glucose Oxidase′s reliance on flavin adenine dinucleotide (FAD) as a cofactor underscores the importance of post-translational modifications in activity, as these modifications can influence the enzyme′s ability to accept electrons during the oxidation process. This unique combination of structural and functional properties makes Glucose Oxidase a valuable tool in various biotechnological applications, including biosensors that monitor glucose levels by measuring the electrical charge generated during the enzymatic reaction.
