AIF Antibody (B-9) is a mouse monoclonal IgG2a kappa light chain antibody raised against amino acids 1-300 mapping at the N-terminus of human Apoptosis-Inducing Factor (AIF), also known as AIFM1. Anti-AIF antibody (B-9) detects AIF proteins from mouse, rat, and human origins by western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), immunohistochemistry with paraffin-embedded sections (IHCP), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). AIF is a mitochondrial flavoprotein located in the intermembrane space of mitochondria, where AIF plays a crucial role in caspase-independent apoptosis. Upon apoptotic stimuli, AIF translocates from the mitochondria to the nucleus, inducing chromatin condensation and large-scale DNA fragmentation, which are key features of programmed cell death. The mitochondrial localization of AIF is important because AIF release links mitochondrial dysfunction to cell death mechanisms, contributing to various pathological conditions such as neurodegenerative diseases and cancer.
