CD63 Antibody (MX-49.129.5) is a mouse monoclonal IgG1 kappa light chain antibody developed against the full-length human CD63 protein. CD63 monoclonal antibody (MX-49.129.5) reliably detects CD63 across multiple species, including mouse, rat, and human, and is recommended for applications such as western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), immunohistochemistry with paraffin-embedded sections (IHCP), flow cytometry (FCM), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). CD63, also known by alternative names such as LAMP-3, Melanoma-associated antigen ME491, and TSPAN30, is a pivotal member of the tetraspanin family of proteins that facilitate critical processes like cell adhesion, migration, and signal transduction through interactions with specific integrins. Functionally, CD63 plays an essential role in phagocytic activities and the fusion of lysosomes with phagosomes, which are vital for intracellular degradation and recycling mechanisms. CD63 is prominently expressed on activated platelets, monocytes, and macrophages, and is also present at lower levels on granulocytes, T cells, and B cells, highlighting its broad involvement in the immune response. The dynamic translocation of CD63 to the plasma membrane upon platelet activation underscores its importance in cellular signaling and immune function. As a member of the TM4 superfamily of leukocyte glycoproteins, CD63 shares structural features with proteins like CD9, CD37, and CD53, all characterized by four transmembrane domains. Notably, deficiencies in CD63 are associated with Hermansky-Pudlak syndrome, emphasizing its crucial role in normal physiological processes. CD63 (MX-49.129.5) antibody is available in both non-conjugated form and various conjugated forms, including agarose, horseradish peroxidase (HRP), phycoerythrin (PE), fluorescein isothiocyanate (FITC), and multiple Alexa Fluor® conjugates, offering researchers versatile options to suit diverse experimental needs.
