PB1 Antibody (D-8) is a mouse monoclonal IgG3 kappa light chain antibody that detects PB1 protein of mouse, rat, and human origin by western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), immunohistochemistry with paraffin-embedded sections (IHCP), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). PB1 (D-8) antibody is available as the non-conjugated form. PB1, also known as polybromo 1, PBRM1, or BAF180, is a crucial 1,689 amino acid protein that resides primarily in the nucleus, where PB1 plays a vital role in chromatin remodeling. PB1 contains one HMG box DNA-binding domain, two BAH domains, and six bromo domains, which are essential for function as a component of the SWI/SNF-B (PBAF) chromatin-remodeling complex. This complex is integral to the regulation of gene expression, as PB1 collaborates with other proteins to modulate transcriptional activation or repression of target genes by altering DNA-nucleosome topology. PB1 presence in various tissues underscores importance in cellular processes, and nine alternatively spliced isoforms allow for functional diversity. Additionally, in response to DNA damage, PB1 may undergo phosphorylation by ATM or ATR, highlighting a role in cellular response to stress. PB1 gene is located on human chromosome 3, a region that encompasses over 1,100 genes, including those associated with cancer, making PB1 significant in both normal physiology and disease contexts.
