SEE ALSO...

PISD Antibody (H-2) is a mouse monoclonal IgM antibody that detects PISD protein of mouse, rat, and human origin by western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), immunohistochemistry with paraffin-embedded sections (IHCP), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). Anti-PISD antibody (H-2) is available as the non-conjugated form. PISD protein, also known as phosphatidylserine decarboxylase proenzyme, plays a crucial role in lipid metabolism by catalyzing the conversion of phosphatidylserine to phosphatidylethanolamine, a vital phospholipid component of cellular membranes. This enzymatic activity is particularly important because phosphatidylethanolamine is essential for maintaining membrane integrity and fluidity, influencing various cellular processes such as apoptosis, cell signaling, and membrane fusion. PISD is localized to the inner mitochondrial membrane, where PISD contributes to the regulation of mitochondrial function and energy production. The gene encoding PISD is located on human chromosome 22q12.2, and PISD consists of 408 amino acids, featuring a conserved LGST motif that is cleaved to generate two isoforms, PISD alpha and PISD beta. Notably, PISD can form heterodimers and is highly expressed in liver and testis, highlighting PISD′s significance in both metabolic and reproductive functions.
