claudin-5 Antibody (A-12) is a mouse monoclonal IgG1 kappa light chain antibody that specifically detects claudin-5, also known as CLDN5, a critical component of tight junctions in endothelial and epithelial cells. Raised against amino acids 167-218 at the C-terminus of human claudin-5, anti-claudin-5 antibody (A-12) is reactive with human proteins in applications such as western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). Claudin-5 plays a vital role in maintaining the integrity of the blood-brain barrier and regulating vascular permeability, making claudin-5 essential for normal physiological functions and a key target in neurological research. The claudin family consists of structurally related proteins important for paracellular transport and tight junction formation, with claudin-5 being abundantly expressed in adult lung, heart, and skeletal muscle tissues. Alterations in claudin-5 expression have been implicated in various diseases, including velocardiofacial syndrome, also known as 22q11.2 deletion syndrome, which is characterized by cleft palate, facial dysmorphology, and heart defects. Available in both non-conjugated and multiple conjugated forms, including agarose, horseradish peroxidase (HRP), phycoerythrin (PE), fluorescein isothiocyanate (FITC), and various Alexa Fluor® conjugates, claudin-5 (A-12) monoclonal antibody provides flexibility for diverse experimental needs. By targeting claudin-5, claudin-5 (A-12) antibody aids in the study of tight junction dynamics and their implications in health and disease, contributing to a better understanding of conditions like stroke, epilepsy, and neurodegenerative disorders.
