SEE ALSO...

Y14 Antibody (4C4) is a mouse monoclonal IgG2b kappa light chain antibody that detects Y14 protein of human and Xenopus laevis origin, as well as RBM8 protein of mouse and rat origin, by western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), immunohistochemistry with paraffin-embedded sections (IHCP), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). Y14 (4C4) antibody is available in both non-conjugated and various conjugated forms, including agarose, horseradish peroxidase (HRP), phycoerythrin (PE), fluorescein isothiocyanate (FITC), and multiple Alexa Fluor® conjugates. Y14 protein plays a crucial role in the exon junction complex (EJC), a multiprotein assembly that forms approximately 20-24 nucleotides upstream of exon-exon junctions in pre-mRNAs. EJC is essential for mRNA export, cytoplasmic localization, and the regulation of nonsense-mediated mRNA decay, ensuring that only properly processed mRNAs are translated. Y14, along with Aly/REF and Magoh, constitutes the core of EJC, remaining bound to spliced mRNAs in the cytoplasm until translation occurs. This interaction communicates the processing history of mRNA, including the positions of removed introns, to the cytoplasm. The gene encoding human Y14 produces three transcripts, and Y14 protein is ubiquitously expressed, predominantly localized in the nucleus, where Y14 co-localizes with oskar mRNA at the posterior pole of the cell, highlighting its importance in mRNA regulation and cellular function.
