Highly active fluoroquinoline antibiotic effective against a broad spectrum of bacteria and mycoplasma with few known resistant strains. Targets gyrases and topoisomerases inhibiting DNA unwinding. Effective at low concentrations (10 µg/ml) and can effectively eradicate mycoplasma in as little as 12 days. Ciprofloxacin has been used as a plant fungicide and is an analog of Nalidixic Acid.

Usage
Powder should be prepared in water or buffered media. To prepare a stock solution add the appropriate amount of powder to distilled deionized water while mixing. Adding water directly to the powder could result in insoluble mixtures that cannot be filtered without losing potency. After ensuring that the mixture is completely solubilized, filter sterilize. If desired, the pH may be adjusted. Concentration is suggested 5μg - 25 μg/mL with 10μg/mL most often utilized.
