α2A-AR Background Information
Alpha-2A adrenergic receptors (AR) regulate neurotransmitter release from sympathetic nerves in the heart, and from adrenergic neurons in the central nervous system. Alpha-2A AR regulates the phosphorylation of microtubule-associated protein 2, which in turn mediates dendrite growth of cortical neurons. Alpha-2A AR also contributes to feedback inhibition of pain hypersensitivity.
