GABP-α Antibody (H-2) is a mouse monoclonal IgG1 kappa light chain antibody that detects GABP-α protein of mouse, rat, and human origin by western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), immunohistochemistry, and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). GABP-α is a crucial transcription factor that plays a significant role in regulating gene expression by binding to specific DNA sequences, thereby influencing various cellular processes. GABP-α protein is primarily located in the nucleus, where GABP-α forms a heterodimer with GABP-β, which exists in two splice variants, β1 and β2, that differ in their C-termini. Nuclear localization of GABP-α is vital for function, allowing direct interaction with DNA and transcriptional machinery, facilitating expression of genes involved in critical cellular functions such as mitochondrial biogenesis and cell proliferation. The GABP complex, consisting of GABP-α and GABP-β, regulates transcription of several important genes, including those involved in cellular response to stress and maintenance of mitochondrial function. Additionally, GABP-α has been implicated in transcriptional activation of adenovirus E4 gene and regulation of BRCA1 expression in breast cancer cells, highlighting importance in both normal physiology and disease states. Anti-GABP-α antibody (H-2) is an essential tool for researchers studying intricate roles of this transcription factor in various biological contexts.

When should the TransCruz reagent sc-28311 X be used instead of the standard form sc-28311?

Asked by: TinTin
Thank you for your question. We recommend using the TransCruz reagent form when performing ChIP or GelShift assays. This form can also be used in other applications such as Western Blot or IHC, but the dilution should be adjusted by a factor of 10 to account for the higher original concentration.
