Chlorin e6 is a naturally occurring chlorin used as a photosensitizer. Chlorin e6 has been examined as a nanotechnology delivery tool. It is a promising compound for medical and scientific research due to its ability to selectively target and damage specific cells or tissues while leaving surrounding tissue unharmed. It has been used in cell culture studies to study the effects of reactive oxygen species (ROS) on cell viability and cell metabolism.
