Hamamelitannin is a condensed tannin found in the bark and leaves of the witch hazel plant, also known as Hamamelis virginiana. This yellowish-brown powder dissolves in water and has a bitter flavor. It earns its classification as a condensed tannin because it can create polymers via intermolecular bonds.
