Description
Retrorsine, a pyrrolizidine alkaloid, is a mutagenic, antimitotic, and cytotoxic compound. The toxicity of retrorsine relies on its bioactivation by cytochrome P450 enzymes (CYP). The toxicity of retrorsine has been shown to result from one of two compounds that are generated after CYP metabolism of retrorsine.
