Description
A naturally occurring 12-hydroxy fatty acid constituting about 90% of the fatty acids in castor oil. Has the capacity to serve as a substrate for the synthesis of the conjugated linoleic acids. Considered safe and non-toxic as a human food constituent, up to a daily intake of 2.5 gams/day. At high doses, castor oil produces laxative effect.
