Description
5-Aminosalicylic Acid, the metabolite of sulphasalazine, has been shown to inhibit PGDH (prostaglandin 15-hydroxydehydrogenase) in human placenta and bovine lung. Further studies show that this anti-inflammatory compound also inhibits leukotriene formation in human leukocytes. Additionally, 5-Aminosalicylic acid demonstrates the ability to disrupt TNFα (tumor necrosis factor α)-stimulated NFκB (nuclear factor κB) activation via inhibition of the multimeric IκB kinase regulating complex.
