DMNB (4,5-dimethoxy-2-nitrobenzaldehyde) is a cell-permeable vanillin derivative and potent inhibitor of DNA-dependent protein kinase. Shown in experiments to increase DR4/DR5 mRNA levels and their surface expression and decrease c-FLIP mRNA levels in K562 cells. The inhibition of DMNB on the DNA-PK/Akt pathway and caspase activation in K562 cells increased the potentcy of apoptosis. This product was also reported to sensitize cells to Cisplatin.
