SEE ALSO...

BTF3a/b Antibody (A-5) is a mouse monoclonal IgG1 kappa light chain antibody that detects BTF3a/b of mouse, rat, and human origin by western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), immunohistochemistry, and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). BTF3a/b (A-5) antibody is available in both non-conjugated and various conjugated forms, including agarose, horseradish peroxidase (HRP), phycoerythrin (PE), fluorescein isothiocyanate (FITC), and multiple Alexa Fluor® conjugates. BTF3 plays a crucial role in the initiation of gene transcription, which is essential for cellular function and regulation. BTF3 is part of a multiprotein complex that assembles on proximal promoter elements, such as the TATA box, to facilitate RNA polymerase II and other transcription factors binding. BTF3 gene encodes two isoforms, BTF3a and BTF3b, produced through alternative splicing; while both isoforms can bind RNA polymerase II, only BTF3a induces transcription due to a critical N-terminal region absent in BTF3b. This structural difference highlights BTF3a′s importance in transcriptional regulation, as BTF3a not only interacts with RNA polymerase II but also associates with protein kinase CK2, which phosphorylates BTF3a and enables efficient transcription of tRNA and 55 rRNA genes by RNA polymerase III. BTF3 proteins′ ubiquitous expression underscores their fundamental role in gene expression across various biological contexts.

Can BTF3a/b (A-5): sc-166093 monoclonal antibody be used to stain formalin-fixed, paraffin-embedded (FFPE) tissue sections?

Asked by: cjMara
Thank you for your question. Yes, BTF3a/b (A-5): sc-166093 has been validated for use in IHC with paraffin-embedded sections. We recommend performing antigen retrieval with sodium citrate buffer (pH 6) and heat. The full protocol can be found here: https://www.scbt.com/scbt/resources/protocols/immunoperoxidase-staining
